Off the Clock Docs

Overview

How Off the Clock works

A short tour of the ideas the rest of these docs lean on, with no protocol knowledge needed.

The community

Draft outline

One community per site. It has its own identity (here, @off-the-clock.us) that owns every space. Admins act for the community; nobody owns it personally.

Spaces

Draft outline
  • A space is a room: general (everyone is in it, and profiles live there) plus one per group.
  • Each space has members, a team of space admins, feeds, and optionally a policy and a directory profile.
  • Some spaces are listed in the space directory; others are unlisted and only members know they exist.

The space switcher open, showing general and two group spaces.

Members and invitations

Draft outline
  • An admin grants you one or more spaces. Until you sign in and join, you are invited, not a member.
  • Joining is your own record, so nobody can be made a member without agreeing.

Your account, your data

Draft outline
  • You sign in with your Atmosphere identity; Off the Clock never sees your password.
  • What you post is written to your own repository on your own PDS, inside the community's permissioned space.
  • Off the Clock's services index those records so members can read them; they don't own them.

Feeds

Draft outline
  • Every space has a default feed, Latest. Admins can add others, such as Events or Posts with media.
  • Feeds are rules the admins write, not an algorithm tuned for engagement.

Moderation

Draft outline

Membership is the main lever: who is in a space. Labels blur, warn, or hide content. Policies say what a space expects before you post. See Moderation and the Moderation Policy.
