Running the community
Creating and configuring spaces
A space is two spaces underneath, one for its settings and one for its content. The admin pages hide that unless something goes wrong.
Creating a space
- Spaces › New space: name, description, and "Add me to the space as an admin of that space" (checked).
- The community identity creates spaces directly. Any other community admin creates them through the community session; if it isn't connected, the form says whom to ask.
- What's created: the management and content spaces, Latest as the default feed, the space record, and your space-admin grant if you kept the box checked.

The first space is general
The first space is the default: everyone is in it and profiles live there. Created once, during setup.
Renaming and describing
Overview › Rename or describe.
Default feed and Update Latest
The default feed is the one a space opens on. Latest selects events, top-level posts, bookmarks, and polls. An older Latest is offered an update.
When creation stops halfway
"Created, but not finished": the overview offers to finish (write the space record or Latest); only the community identity can create a missing half.
Sync state
Technical details on the overview: both halves' URIs, credential state, caught up, record counts. What "Refused" or "not followed" means.
